A car washer can clean cars much quicker and deeper than a hosepipe and uses much less water. Washing cars with a pressure washer also increases the quality of a car wash, and once again, much less water is used, which results in more cars being washed per day. However not all pressure washers are created equal, and depending on certain factors, will determine the size of the pressure washer you will require. If you do not get the correct pressure washer for the application it is intended for, the machine will not last very long.

It is best to invest in a good quality machine, which is able to perform the function that it is needed trying to save a buck by buying a smaller high-pressure cleaner will only cost you more in repairs.

How a pressure washer makes the difference:

Cleans tough stains: Pressure washers come with different pressure settings to handle light/medium/heavy-duty tasks. Tough stains like oil, grease, or grime fall in the line of heavy-duty tasks, which a high pressure washer can blast off your car. The pressure washers come with accessories like rotating nozzles, sandblasting nozzles, chemical injectors, etc, that make removing tough stains, paint, cement, etc, an easy job.

Time-saving: On average, it takes 10 minutes to just clean your car at low pressure. Heavy duty cleaning may take double that time, but if you know how to work the machine, it’s almost impossible to spend more than an hour cleaning your car.

Cost-effective: You use less water with a pressure washer, and if looked after properly will last 5 to 10 years.

When you have to get a pressure washer, you may be overwhelmed by the variety and types that are available in the market. You may also come across unfamiliar abbreviations such as HP, PSI, and GPM. What do they even mean and how important are these terminologies when you purchase a pressure washer?

Pounds per Square Inch (PSI)

Pounds per Square Inch indicates the cleaning force or the pressure at which the water comes out of the cleaner. Higher PSI means that the water will come out at a greater force.
You may find, however, that in pressure washer technical data sheets that they are two classifications of pressure – maximum pressure and bar-rated pressure also known as working pressure.

Gallons per Minute (GPM)

Gallons per Minute tell how much water (in terms of gallons) will come out of the pressure washer within a given time frame (in terms of minutes). In other words, it indicates how quickly the pressure washer is in cleaning dirt on surfaces. It also tells you effective the pressure washer is in removing debris. You might assume that looking at the horsepower (HP) of pressure washers is enough to determine the cleaning power.
