A laymen’s guide to High-pressure washers and how to ensure safety!

There are many in the automobile industry itself, who believe that high-pressure car washers or car washing pumps are not safe to wash cars. many feel that they might affect the car’s paint or get it dented. But many do not know how the science in these machines works. We’ll try to explain it in simple words:

The Crankshaft Technology

A crankshaft helps the internal combustion engine to function properly in converting the linear motion to rotating motion of the pistons. These are more of connecting links and rods for smoother functioning. These help in controlling the pressure of the water motor in terms of high-pressure washers. The pump usually used in these machines is Annovi reverberi Pump which is made of forged brass. It has many pressure levels and can be further controlled. 130,140 and 200 bars of pressure can be liberated at a given time. And to clean a car with such a high-pressure car washer, only 10-20 bars of pressure is needed. This is usually controlled by washer guns and lance. The key is to have an unloader valve that helps in controlling the pressure.

Many companies use ceramic coated pistons in their high-pressure washer machines that can wear out in some time and can affect the pressure as well. To ensure maximum safety, genuine ceramic pistons must be installed in the machines. they are heat absorbent and can go on for hours.

Choosing the right car wash equipment:

·    The Brush: Ensure that the washing brush for the said wash is not a hard-bristled one, that might bring in some unwanted scratches. Most of the time, companies make the mistake of not getting their accessories checked before beginning their work.

·

The Shampooing: Most pressure washers come with different attachments, like a shampoo bottle. This is important in terms of time commitment. Having spread the shampoo or detergent spread out evenly within a few minutes, will surely save valuable time.

·    The Product: Not all detergents and car washing shampoos are ideal for all cars. And especially for the pressure car washer machine. As many of them can harm the pistons of the machine. Hence having a rough knowledge of them would do the trick.

Here are some basic to-dos while operating these high-pressure washers:

·       Always ensure that the doors and windows are closed before beginning the wash.

·       Always wear shoes while using the car wash equipment. The pressure from the washer can cause grave injury in case of a slip.

·       Make sure that the brushes, sponges, and other cleaning equipment are cleaned and rinsed regularly. If any residue is remaining from the previous wash, then that could harm the paint.

·       Keep the nozzle of the pressure washer at the perfect angle and distance which is 15-30 cm away form the car, so as not to harm the paint.

·       Do not touch or wash the engine or anything under the hood with these high-pressure washers.

·       Always dilute the detergent or shampoo before you begin the wash.

·       Use the Thumb-rule of gravity: Roof to bottom for washing.

The car wash machines are not something to toy with and hence must be used with caution. although they save a good amount of time, they need a good safe-keeping as well. Always respect the equipment and choose the right ones before diving into the washing part.
